Utah Consumer Privacy Act (UCPA)
Utah’s UCPA, the Unredacted Consumer Privacy Act, is a pro-business regulation that aims at the protection of buyers and at the same time makes it easy for businesses to comply with it. The law is primarily directed at bigger companies that handle large amounts of data processing.
What is UCPA Compliance?
For the people, the UCPA grants access and deletion rights of personal data along with opting out of advertising targeted toward them. Moreover, it limits the collection of data only to what is necessary and related to the purpose.
The Attorney General of Utah is the one who holds the power of enforcement, thus adopting a practical and user-friendly approach to the matter of privacy protection which, however, does not disregard the innovation aspect and is still the question of accountability.
